Search Hints

Searching within the Grogan's database is different from searching within standard search engines.  Here are some hints to make the most of your searches:

• Avoid using and, not or + within your searches

• Use a single word instead of phrases

• Avoid using quotes ("")

• Use the singular form of the word as opposed to the plural

• Try searching a word phrase as a compound word 
  (i.e. search "bedpan" instead of "bed pan")

• Search under the most specific descriptor as opposed to the broadest
  (i.e. When looking for a brass handled cane, a search under "cane" brings up over 50 matches; a search under "brass" brings up four matches.)

• When searching for a class of an item, try searching on the category followed by sub-class (i.e. search on ?cane wood? rather than ?wood cane?)

• When you know the maker of the products but not the number, use the manufacturer selection together with the keyword (i.e. select "3M Healthcare" and "tape" to find only 3M brand tapes)
